Sometimes
when I'm "in a mood", I'll set & play one of the various beat
options on my drum machine until a new song "melody" starts making
itself known to my mind...
Thanking God that I've learned to enjoy being weird....
one of the most
fun things about getting older! And... you can go on sites like YouTube
to get ideas on how to create interesting drum patterns for the songs
you write. That SHORTENS TIME (and cost$) at the professional studio
when you give the drummer an idea of the "sound in your head".
